Description:

Written to my own libretto, this piece tells the story of a wandering snake who comes across a field mouse; which it captures and digests. The singer is the snake, narrating her every step. She sings in sprechstimme (between speaking and singing) in a manner reflecting Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire. The piece is atonal, evoking a dark and chilling quality which lasts throughout the work.
