Open Waters

Instrumentation: Solo Harp

Duration: 6:45min

Description:

Open Waters is a piece about a peaceful summer daydream on the shores of a beach. The daydreamer is carried away by the sound the waves and sent on a journey to sea. In the middle of the piece he encounters the crashing and stormy waves of the ocean. As the dreamer nears the shores once again the waves soon dissipate to tranquility. The theme of the opening returns to conclude the dreamer's journey, ending on a pensive chord.

Open Waters is dedicated to Heidi Krutzen who premiered the piece at Vancouver ProMusica's Sonic Boom festival in 2013.
